Fashion in “Sex and the City” is more than just clothing—it’s a powerful tool for self-expression, reflecting the personality and status of its iconic heroines. The wardrobe, masterfully crafted by legendary stylist Patricia Field, highlighted each character’s individuality and became a cornerstone of pop culture. From the Hermès Birkin bag to the Fendi Baguette and, of course, the shoes, these pieces are now legendary. Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, reportedly spent the equivalent of a New York apartment down payment on 40 pairs of designer shoes! Her love for brands like Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, and Jimmy Choo turned their names into synonyms for style. Carrie’s bold, extravagant looks—from daring combinations to iconic heels—set the fashion trends of the ‘90s and 2000s.

27 years after the show’s 1998 premiere, Jimmy Choo has tapped into the archival trend, unveiling a limited-edition capsule collection, The Archive: 1997–2001, celebrating the brand’s first five wildly successful years. Jimmy Choo’s creative director, Sandra Choi, enlisted fashion journalist Alexander Fury and designer Conner Ives to curate the project. “We looked at three decades of work and dialed back to the first five years. Why? Because those years truly represent the heart and soul of Jimmy Choo — they’re our roots, where it all began,” Choi explained.

The collection features eight iconic shoe designs originally released between 1997 and 2001:

1. The Strappy, 1997

These high-heeled sandals with delicate straps embody the glamour of the late ‘90s. The black version debuted in Jimmy Choo’s inaugural Spring/Summer 1997 collection, instantly becoming an icon.

2. The Leo, 1998

Leopard-print sandals famously worn by Carrie Bradshaw in the show’s opening scene. Their bold design captures the era’s daring and playful spirit.

3. “72138”, 1998

Purple feathered heels, named after their serial number, became legendary after the “Cinderella” episode, where Carrie loses a sandal and cries out, “I lost my Choo!”

4. The Slide, 1999

Mint-green flat mules that blend casual style with glamour, reflecting the shifting fashion paradigms of the late ‘90s.

5. The Bow, 2000

Stiletto heels adorned with a decorative bow, crafted from luxurious materials. Perfect for evening outings and red carpets, they captivated fashionistas of the 2000s.

6. The Boot, 2000

Knee-high python-print boots, a Carrie Bradshaw favorite. In the show, she paired them with a fur coat and messy bun, creating a look of luxurious chaos.

7. The Thong, 2000

Silver sandals inspired by the handkerchief tops of the early 2000s. A chainmail detail between the toes ensures comfort for dancing.

8. The Flower, 2001

Sandals in metallic nappa leather, adorned with hand-embroidered silk corsages. Each flower, incorporating organza, metal, and beads, takes two hours to craft, showcasing Jimmy Choo’s haute couture artistry.
